Profile

The research group develops, implements, and uses methods in bioinformatics and statistical genetics. We will contribute to an efficient utilisation of modern technologies to solve genetic/biological issues, by methods that intergrate genomic, transcriptomic, proteomics, metabolomic, and phenotypic information. These techniques will be essential to identify genes and genetic/biochemical pathways and thereby understand the underlying regulation of phenotypic variation in production, disease resistance, fertility, and product quality. Furthermore, analysis of such data often requires development of methods for non-normal data. The research group also develops methods that ensures optimal utilisation of data from commercial breeding plans including new sources of information, such that genetic ranking of breeding animals in practical breeding plans uses state of the art methods and the newest research knowledge.

·Bioinformatic methods for integrated analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and phenotypic information.

·Identification of chromosomal areas (QTL), genes, and genetic pathways that influence important traits

·Biometric methods to genetic ranking of breeding animals, including new information (eg. DNA tests.

·Statistical genetic methods to analyse complex phenotypes and genetic models
