Aim

The research group develops methods and tools for production and health control in herds for the benefit of the health and welfare of the animals in an environmental and economically sustainable context. The research group gathers and communicates knowledge of production and health management systems and creates possibilities for an improved dialogue between the farmers, the authorities and the surrounding community.

Objectives

  • Development of methods for control of animal health and food safety as well as for estimation of animal welfare on herd level.
  • Development of welfare promoting production principles in animal husbandry, e.g. the use of a new technique for feeding, milking, reproduction control and disease monitoring.
  • Analyses of the decision patterns of the farmers and development of theories for primary consultancy.
