My main interests are development of control systems aimed to secure and improve animal health and welfare in organic egg and sow production. For organic egg production I have developed a welfare assessment system comprising of a thorough evaluation of flock welfare, using benchmarking to present the results for the producers. The system includes flock-based indicators usable in commercial organic egg production. Further I am developing HACCP-based decision support systems, for organic egg and pork production, including selection of control points, alarm values and corrective actions. When developing the systems I use epidemiological analysis, expert panel analysis and behavioural tests and observations. Data are collected in commercial farms.
