Sensors, machines and IT applications available to the agriculture today makes it possible to manage a diary production on a more detailed level than before. The amount of information available for the farm manager in order to support a decision has increased. This brings new opportunities to make more of the “right” decisions and makes it easier to document the production processes. But, most of the software applications are non-compatible and in order to get the full advantages of them, the farm manager has to operate several computers each day and manually transfer data from one unit to another. Many farmers finds this time-consuming and costly, thus they are reluctant to use the applications.
The PhD study will focus on the development and enhancement of the quality of contextual design processes for ICT systems and demonstrate their feasibility. In this way, the theoretical basis for supporting the construction and maintenance of an ICT system for dairy farming is established.
