Profile

Working area:

Molecular plant pathology: host-pathogen interactions, genetic diversity and evolutionary processes in fungi. Development of molecular methods for detection of plant pathogenic fungi: real-time PCR, DNA-chip, microarray and immunosensors.

Ongoing research and development:

  • Development of real-time PCR methods and DNA-chip for monitoring fungi in cereals and maize (e.g. Fusarium sp.)
  • Evolutionary processes in wheat yellow rust, Puccinia striiformis. At present mainly through BIOEXPLOIT: Exploitation of natural plant biodiversity for the pesticide-free production of food ( http://www.bioexploit.net/ )
  • Molecular diagnosis, innovative technologies for implementing crop protection strategies, ENDURE: European Network for the Durable Exploitation of crop protection strategies ( http://www.endure-network.eu/ ).
  • Development of real-time PCR methods for studying epidemiology of Ramularia collo-cygni and Fusarium sp. in cereals.
  • Development of biosensors for quantification of fungal spores (using SPR)
