Senior scientist Kristen Sejrsen has been elected president of an international organisation.
Kristen Sejrsen, senior scientist at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at University of Aarhus, has been elected as president of the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP) for the period 2008 to 2012 at the latest general assembly of the association.
EAAP was established in 1949 in Paris and was recognized as an international NGO by FAO in 1955. Denmark has been a member from the beginning. EAAP has member organisations within the fields of animal science, animal husbandry and consultancy in 40 countries.
The aim of EAAP is to promote conditions for farm animal production and animal science in the member countries. EAAP holds an annual scientific congress and many seminars and workshops.
EAAP publishes a scientific journal, books and technical reports. EAAP collaborates with a large number of sister organisations all over the world. EAAP awards fellowships to young scientists, thereby promoting exchange of scientists between countries in especially Europe and North America. EAAP has close contact with the EU and participates as a partner in several projects. The EAAP secretariat is in Rome.
