Profile

My research is primarily related to carbohydrates and is concentrated on the following main areas: (1) development and implementation of analytical methods for the determination of carbohydrate components in food and feed, (2) studies of breakdown, absorption, metabolism and physiological effects of the various carbohydrates in the gastrointestinal tract, (3) the role of the various carbohydrates on digestive disturbances and establishment of parasites in pigs, and (4) the relationship between the metabolism of carbohydrates and phyochemicals. Most of my research is done in collaboration with national, Nordic and European research groups. I am member of the Editorial Board in Archives of Animal Nutrition and Animal Feed Science and Technology. I am supervisor for Master and Ph.D. students, member of the examiner corps at the Royal Veterinary and AgriculturalUniversity and have been the official opponent at Ph.D. and doctor theses in Denmark and abroad.
