The main research area is ruminant nutrition, with focus on digestive processes and feed evaluation.

Major areas have been 1) fatty acid metabolism in the digestive tract of ruminants, 2) laboratory methods for evaluation of feed value, 3) influence of rumen degradable protein on rumen metabolism, 4) kinetics of fibre degradation and passage, 5) feeding strategies for dairy cows. Beside this participation in many other projects, which have given a broad experience in ruminant nutrition. This include participation in projects in developing countries.

Main present research projects are: ‘Feeding strategies for dairy cows’, ‘Laboratory methods for estimation of forage organic matter digestibility’ and ‘Maize silage for dairy cows’.
