Plant virology is my field of expertice.
Research is focused on natural resistance in plants, resistance durability and evolution of viruses. We exploit a natural resistance mechanism to investigate gene function in crop plants. The technique is known as virus induced gene silencing or simply VIGS. We are studying developmental genes, genes of importance to symbiosis with microorganisms and genes controlling nutrient uptake.
